On November 18, 2011, the Carolinas Aviation Museum got a rare visitor. Captain Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles of US Airways Flight 1549, the Airbus A320 which crashed into the Hudson River, were supporting the Historical Flight Foundation by flying the DC-7B to the Museum from Opa Locka, Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina. The DC-7B was enroute back to Opa Locka, Florida. The DC-7B made an emergency landing due to an engine failure on number 3 engine. Captain Frank Moss, crew members, and passengers made a safe landing back at Charlotte, North Carolina.
