Port-side Silhouette view of RAAF F/A-18A Hornet A21-16 (fitted with a centre-line external fuel tank), taken at the Avalon International Airshow late on Friday 04Mar2011. The Classic Hornet is taking off from Rwy 18 after the sun had set, crossing a colourful sunset sky background. The wheels are being retracted during a noisy take-off, and the after-burners of the two General Electric F-404 engines stand out in the low light conditions. The pilot performed a high energy display routine, showing the Classic Hornet's handling qualities.
