I remember the day fondly when this and an An-124 turned up at LHR to collect some relief supplies. So far this has also been my only encounter with an An-22. It's since been registered as RA- and reported to be in storage since late 1999 at Yakutsk. Last reported to have been seen in 2005. It was an amazing sight. Note even the ramp worker having a good look.

Aaaaargh!!!... amazing Aziz. If there's one aircraft I have always wanted to see it's an AN22 and I gave up spotting for about 15 years exactly one month before this photo was taken. This looks almost surreal!
