Notes:

A close up of the vital stats and the tail skid plate of a B737-800. The tail skid plate is present only on the B737-800/900 (which have longer fuselages) and not on the 737-600/700 (which have shorter fuselages). Further, the B737-800 Short Field Performance (SFP) version and the B737-900 have a two stage tail skid plate, where the two bottom portions (the bulbous small protrusion and the portion immediately above it) extend outwards during rotation. The standard B737-800 has a single piece tails kid plate (as in this case). The bulbous small protrusion has a coloured patch on the bottom which gets discoloured in case of a tail strike and a check of this patch is a standard procedure during the walk around on the ground.
