Notes:

A rare In-Flight Cabin View in Air New Zealand DC-10-30 ZK-NZQ Cn 46911, flying between Sydney and Auckland on 16Jun1980. Photo taken as Flight Attendants in distinctive uniforms served refreshments to passengers, while we flew in ZK-NZQ across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand. (Flight time: 2.6 hours). The previous year ANZ 'sister-ship' ZK-NZP Cn 46910 had crashed into Mt Erebus in Antarctica (on 28Nov1979, due to a navigation programming error) with the tragic loss of 257 lives. (RIP) That was Flight TE901, the fourteenth ANZ scenic flight to Antarctica. Upon completion of her ANZ service, ZK-NZQ was operated by American Airlines as N138AA and Continental Airlines as N14074. After Retirement, the stripped airframe was seen at Mohave California (KMHV) in January 2006. Low res photo.

@Henri, Air NZ was one of the last quality airlines to ditch earphones inflight. I recall from my personal experience they were still using earphones even in 1993 when Qantas and Cathay Pacific etc had long switched over to headphones.

Henri

And the tube earphones! WOW truly a gem!

What a classic photo, thank you for bringing us the memory of air travel in the 80's...
