Notes:

A Kittyhawk / Mustang Cross! ‘Kitty-Stang’ or ‘Must-Hawk’? Rare Port side view of RAAF Kittyhawk IA A29-53 on outdoor display at the Moorabbin Aviation Museum (MAM) in early 1974. This Kittyhawk/ P-40E was delivered to the RAAF during WWII, in Mar 1942, ex USAAF 41-13522. As a 'War Surplus' aircraft, she was authorised for write-off in Nov 1946, and 'Struck Off Charge' in Feb 1949. The MAM acquired the fuselage, and did not have P-40 wings available. MAM 'temporarily' fitted CA-18 Mustang wings (and main landing gear) which were still fitted in 1988. (Side view of unique Mustang wing installation.) Low res photo.
