Notes:

Presenting Kullu airport in the beautiful Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh in North India. Situated right on the banks of the river Beas in the Kullu valley at an altitude of 1089 meters AMSL in the town of Bhuntar, this little airport is surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan mountain scenery and serves as the access point for vacationers heading to the popular Himachal mountain resort towns of Kullu (10 kms away) and Manali (50 kms away). The main runway 16-34 is only 1125 meters long and 30 meters wide, and can handle ATR 72, Dornier 228 and Avro RJ70 aircraft. Runway 34 (pictured here) is only used for arrivals, while runway 16 is only used for departures due to surrounding terrain. The terminal can be seen just above the windsock, while the control tower is at the far right corner of the frame. First photo in the database! [Canon EOS 40D + Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM]
