"Discovery" executes the roll progam to position herself for space entry after launch on the STS-128 mission. Note the main engines with the blue flame and the covers from the reaction control system falling off as they are supposed to. Liftoff from Launch Pad 39A was on time at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The 1st launch attempt on 08/24 was postponed due to weather conditions. The 2nd attempt on 08/25 was postponed due to a valve in Discovery's main propulsion system.
