Rare view of RAN VF-805 A-4G Skyhawk Code 889, taken after her 'After-Flight' Service, late in the day at RAAF Williamtown in Sep 1970. Note the 'unskinned' rudder trailing edge, as the aircraft reflects the late sunshine. This aircraft was Delivered to the RAN in Nov 1967. She crashed on take-off from HMAS Melbourne near Singapore on 08Nov1973, due to catapult failure. The Pilot stayed in the aircraft as the ship passed over him. He freed himself underwater, and was rescued by a helicopter. (Pentax S1A /Tamron 90-260 mm lens.)
