Notes:

Seen at the original O'Hare terminal building, TWA's 'Star of the Tigris' later flew for Alaska Airlines and is now being restored by Lufthansa retirees at Auburn-Lewiston, Maine. It is planned to fly the airplane, in full LH colors, on the European airshow circuit beginning in 2013.

Not yet an Astrojet; the background is a "straight-pipe" American 707-123. When later converted to turbofan engines, AA's Boeings became branded "Astrojets."

Is that an AA "Astrojet" in the background?

Thank you, Jon, for posting this lovely Connie photo. It's more than a treasured photo, it's an inspiration ... and one which represents a time when airline travel was both a privilege and an adventure. My first airplane trip (1956) was on a Connie … on Braniff Airlines from Cleveland to San Antonio. What memories!
