Taken from JAL1864 bound for Tokyo Haneda. Here you can see Kagoshima Airport in the foreground with Sakurajima behind. This is one of Japan's most active and dangerous volcanos and is situated just across the bay from the city. Behind Sakurajima you can see (Mt.) Kaimon-dake. This was used as a navigational tool/becon by Kamikaze pilots who were on route to Okinawa to carry out their missions. Many missions originated in Kagoshima as large bases were located here.
