Does anyone know what was up with this Air Jamaica A340 ? after taking of from runway 24R the undercarriage was down for about a couple of minutes,did the pilots forget or was there some kind of problem - Canon D60

Nice picture!! As for the gear being held down....Usually, when the gear is retracted, the brakes are automatically applied for the wheels to stop turning as the gear is retracted. When a wheel brake is not working, the aircraft can continue flying on degraded braking capability, however it does mean, that after takeoff that particular wheel cannot be braked to stop spinning, and therefore the crew must leave the gear down for two minutes to allow the wheel to slow down before they retract it.
