Notes:

(11639) This DC-3 is owned and operated by John and Betty Papis. Built in 1943 as a DC-3(not a C-47), the aircraft served with the 8th Air Force in Europe as a C-53 and saw action on June 7th, 1944 (D-Day) over Normandy as a paratroop transport. Then in 1945 it was sold to Pan American (Pan Am) where it flew for Panagra Airways (a Pan Am Subsidary) in Central and South America. In 1956, the aircraft was sold to The Remert Werner Corporation and converted to a DC-3C (Corporate) aircraft and sold to the Kern County Land & Cattle Company. Over the years, the aircraft has operated for numerous owners such as Hawkeye Airlines and has also been used as a jump aircraft. In 1997 John & Betty Papis bought the 24 passenger airplane and have since operated the DC-3 known as "Rose" for sight seeing tours, weddings and have attended numerous airshows around the country. This may not be the best light but how often do you get to shoot a DC-3 on Catalina?
