Victory Flight flying past at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 as a part of the centennial celebration of the RCAF. The Mustang and Spitfire Mk. IX carry the ‘Y2’ unit code of No. 442(F) Sqn RCAF “Caribou” that was credited with 56 victories between June 1944 and May 1945. Their last bomber escort mission was to support Lancasters attacking Berchtesgaden. The formation is led by a Hurricane Mk. XII built by Canadian Car and Foundry at Ontario. It is painted in the markings of F/O W.L. McKnight, DFC & Bar of No. 242 Sqn RAF that mostly had Canadian pilots. The Sqn flew in the Battle of France.
