Operated by Carpatair for Alitalia sustained major damage during a landing at FCO amid strong crosswinds and wind shear. The aircraft hit the runway nose-first, bounced multiple times, and veered off into the grass, rotating nearly 170°. Five of the 50 occupants were seriously injured. Fire services took ten minutes to locate the plane due to unclear positioning. The aircraft has been sitting idle in the storage zone since the accident.
