This is the second Boeing B767 in Air Tanzania's fleet, The first one was Boeing B767-260ER (ET-AIZ MSN- 23916) powered by 2 x PW JT9D-7R4E leased from Ethiopian Airlines back in 1991 and sent back to Ethiopian Airlines in 1992 and in 1996 on 23rd November that same aircraft was flying from ADD to NBO was hijacked and crashed in the Indian Ocean near the Comoros Islands because the hijackers didn't allow the aircraft to land for fuel
