On the flight line in the evening at Yelahanka between parked F-18s and F-16s during Aero India 2023. This Lightning II is from 356th FS “Green Demons”, 354th FW based at Eielson AFB. It is the first squadron within the PACAF to have received the F-35A. The 356th FS flew the P-51B, the P-51D Mustang and P-47D Thunderbolt in World War II. It became the 356th TFS flying the F-100 and F-4C during the Vietnam War, after which it flew the A-7D from Myrtle Beach. It took part in the Gulf War equipped with the A-10 Thunderbolt II.
