Scanned from a negative/ Delivered to TWA on 3rd June 1972, then leased to Eastern Air Lines from 12th November 1973, then back to TWA in May 1974, then leased to Five Star Airlines from April 1985, then back to TWA in 1989, then leased to American Trans Air in January 1990, back to TWA in May of the same year. Severed incident on 7/20/92 at JFK. the aircraft had just under 50,000 hours on less than 20,000 cycles when it took off from JFK as TW843 to San Francisco. While departing 13R at 17:40 after reaching Vr first officer took off and immediately stick shaker was activated wile the First Officer reported loss of performance. Captain took over and decided to land the aircraft. Struck ground at 14ft/second descent twice its design limit and when it became clear that they would hit blast fence at the end of the runway, the Captain steered the plane left off of the runway and airplane came to halt 300 ft from the runway. No fatalities even though rear fuselage caught on fire as fuel tanks cracked and the airplane disintegrated. Malfunctioning stall warning system falsely activated after liftoff later investigation found
