Only Caribou on display in northeast India at IAF Museum Shillong. This ex-US Army aircraft was among the first two delivered on 8 Jan 1963 to No. 33 Sqn. “Himalayan Geese”, till it crashed at Walong ALG in 1985. The Sqn. flew 26 of the type. It earned a name for having undertaken supply drops, recce, paratrooping, night bombing and logistic support among its many roles. In the 1971 Indo-Pak War, the Sqn. led the Tangail paradrop, after which it flew the Bangladesh interim cabinet into Dacca and flew out VIP POWs.
