Notes:

Avro Shackleton WL790 sits under the beautiful night skies above the Pima Air & Space Museum. WL790 was delivered to the Royal Air Force as a Mk.2 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) in 1953. In 1971, twelve Mk.2s, including WL790, were converted from MPA to Airborne Early Warning standard (AEW) and were redesignated Shackleton AEW.2s. This particular airframe was transferred to the No.8 Squadron at RAF Kinloss in September 1972 and it would continue to serve all the way until it's retirement from service in July 1991. Shortly after, it was transferred to Air Atlantique who intended to fly WL790, but could not get certification from the Civil Aviation Authority. The aircraft ended up being loaned to the Commemorative Air Force in Midland, Texas where it remained for some years. In 2007, WL790 took the skies one last time for a one-way ferry flight from Midland to the Pima Air & Space Museum where it's now preserved for future generations.
