The SM-2 helicopter was manufactured in the years 1960-1962 in PZL Swidnik. This is a helicopter, which is structurally based on the Mi-1. A total of 86 SM-2 helicopters were produced, 80 were operated in Poland, five were exported to Romania and one machine was purchased for the then Aviation Division of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. He served in the squadron of the Ministry of the Interior under the registration mark OK-BYK until 1970, when he was transferred to the civilian Slovak airline Slov-Air, while the registration was changed to the registration of OK-RUV. This single domestic machine SM-2 was used to check the condition of high voltage lines and oil pipelines. He also served filmmakers and television. During television research, the SM-2 OK-RUV was equipped with special instruments and telescopic antennas pointing downwards. He also performed measurements and tests in the field of signal frequency analysis. The operation of the SM-2 OK-RUV helicopter ended in 1975 and was subsequently handed over to the collections of the Kbely Aviation Museum.
