Seen parked in its hangar at a private residence near Toowoomba is this 1977 built BN-2 Islander owned by Colville Aviation but operated by Torres Strait Air. It has had its normal checks, but as advised by the mechanic working on this airframe, there was alot of corrosion on the wings and tail. This aircraft should of only been in the hangar for two weeks, but it has now been two months as alot of work needs doing. Where these Islanders operate in the islnds at the tip of north queensland from Horn Island, corrosion is a big problem. The tail has been removed and has had seven coats of paint and ready to be reattached.
