This MD-10 was involved in a hijack attempt on 4/7/94, Federal Express 705, a deadheading flight engineer attempted to kill the operating crew with a spear gun & hammer, and then crash the aircraft in order to earn his family a life insurance payout from FedEx. The operating crew was able to fight him off & in doing so rolled the aircraft nearly inverted & reached almost transonic speeds before safely landing. Interestingly enough I took this photo on the exact 26th anniversary of that fateful flight

Arriving as AAL2872 from the most populous city in South Dakota, Sioux Falls in absolutely pristine weather conditions! South Dakota is quite interesting in terms of a geographic perspective: first of all the capital, Pierre, seems to be located "exactly" in the middle of the state (based on my really fast GIS processing)
