First registration of TS575. The 'swing-wing' all weather tactical air strike aircraft MiG-27 ML was inducted into IAF in 1986. The wings move forward for low speed flight and backward for high speeds. The engine produces 11500kg thrust helping it to reach Mach 1.7 and climb up to 46000ft. Flown by a single pilot, it carries up to 4 tons of bombs, missiles and other precision weapons. Its six barrel, 30mm calibre Gasha Gatling guns could shred any target into pieces. The aircraft was designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau in the Soviet Union and later manufactured under license in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) as the "Bahadur" (meaning- valiant). The aircraft was used extensively during the Kargil war and Operation Parakram. The aircraft was decommissioned by the IAF in December 2019. A total of Seven respectable IAF personals graduated from Loyola School, Trivandrum, have had the honor of flying the MiG-27 ML fighter jet, out of which two of them have the unique distinction of having flown the aircraft currently displayed here.
