After the totally unspected colapsed of XL Airways, more than 1500 English people were left at GCTS without a plane to return home. For this reason, Monarch Airlines with the UK civil aviation leased two 747 to the Greek company Hellenic Imperial Airways to help to repatriate all the passengers. The problem was, that when this two planes get to Tenerife, the crew duty hours were about to be more than permitted so both crews stay on the ground and did not fly back to the UK that night. Among this planes, we recieve a BMI, a British Airways and a Thomsonfly to take some passengers.
